An upcoming application for the iPhone will allow people to compose simple tunes on the go. Mark Terry of Moo Cow Music took the stage at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference on Monday to demonstrate the application, called "Band."
Band for iPhone includes two-octave piano, guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, vinyl scratcher, a mixer and a "12 bar blues" instrument that "contains all the instruments you need to play the blues in one simple interface" according to Gadget Lab's liveblog of Steve Jobs' keynote address (screenshots above).
All instruments will be usable in the same song, while a multi-touch interface will allow up to five notes or samples to be played at the same time. Animated keys and strings will appear to move when activated, and any part can be edited, erased or overdubbed. An included metronome keeps the beat to keep each part on time.
